OPACUserCSS allows the administrator to enter styles that will overwrite the OPAC's default CSS as defined in 'opaclayoutstylesheet' or 'opacstylesheet'. Styles may be entered for any of the selectors found in the default style sheet. The default stylesheet will likely be found at http://your\_koha\_address/opac-tmpl/bootstrap/css/opac.css. Unlike :ref:`OpacAdditionalStylesheet <OpacAdditionalStylesheet-label>` and :ref:`opaclayoutstylesheet <opaclayoutstylesheet-label>` this system preference will embed the CSS directly on your OPAC pages.

The system preference can look for stylesheets in the template directory for your OPAC language, for instance: /koha-tmpl/opac-tmpl/prog/en/css. If you upload a custom file, opac-mystyles.css to this directory, you can specify it by entering opac-mystyles.css in your opaccolorstylesheet system preference. This adds your custom stylesheet as a linked stylesheet alongside the OPAC's default CSS files. This method is preferable because linked stylesheets are cached by the user's browser, meaning upon repeat visits to your site the user's browser will not have to re-download the stylesheet, instead using the copy in the browser's cache.

This system preference will only affect sites that are not using an XSLT stylesheet. XSLT stylesheets are defined in the :ref:`OPACXSLTResultsDisplay <OPACXSLTResultsDisplay-label>` and :ref:`OPACXSLTDetailsDisplay <OPACXSLTDetailsDisplay-label>` system preferences.

The default value will prevent law-abiding web crawlers from finding and indexing the OPAC. Make sure to change this system preference in production environments if you want your OPAC to be found on search engines.
