Print notices are generated using the :ref:`gather\_print\_notices.pl <cron-print-hold-notices-label>` cron job. It creates a single file for all print notices, that you can then print out and post using regular mail.

Patrons can choose to receive notices as a digest by checking the 'Digests only' checkbox, along with the delivery method. A digest combines all the messages for a notice type into one email (for example, all items due in three days), instead of sending multiple emails.
Les adhérents peuvent choisir de recevoir leurs notifications en un seul résumé en cochant la case 'Résumé uniquement' à côté du type d'envoi. Un résumé est une combinaison de tous les messages de ce type (pour avoir tous les exemplaires à rendre dans 3 jours en un seul courriel) dans un courriel ou lieu de multiples courriels pour chaque alerte.

**Item due** (DUE, DUEDGST): A notice sent on the day an item is due back at the library. Item due notices are generated by the :ref:`advance\_notices.pl cronjob <cron-advanced-notice-label>` cron job.

**Item checkout** (CHECKOUT, RENEWAL): A notice that lists the items the patron has just checked out and renewed. This is an electronic form of the checkout receipt. If the :ref:`RenewalSendNotice <renewalsendnotice-label>` system preference is set to 'Send', the notice is called 'Item checkout and renewal'.
