When you click 'Save', the message will be queued to be sent by the :ref:`process\_message\_queue.pl cronjob <cron-message-queue-label>`. It will also be visible in the :ref:`Notices tab <notices-label>` of the patron's file.

Only staff with the :ref:`edit\_borrowers permission <permission-edit-borrowers-label>` and the :ref:`send\_messages\_to\_patrons permission <permission-send-messages-to-borrowers-label>` (or the :ref:`superlibrarian permission <permission-superlibrarian-label>`) will be able to send custom emails to patrons.
